Who Are We?

Ginny Owens
December 2 - 3, 2000
Crossroads Community Church
Freeport, IL

Closing out an eleven-week study on Grace, the Crossroads Community Church of Freeport substituted their regular services with a special guest, Ginny Owens.

After a short sermon by Assistant Pastor, Keith Boyer, the service was turned over to Ginny. All together Ginny performed during three separate services. Besides singing her amazing songs, written from her experiences in life, Ginny also shared many of the events behind the songs. Going all the way back to her first song at age 8 or 9 through her "Debbie Gibson" period and into her most recent tunes. Ginny used her songs to explain that we were "Free" because of God's Grace, and that we should love everyone "Without Condition", because God loves us the same way. By the way Ginny stated that she recorded her first song on a Fisher Price tape recorder. Could be a great gift idea for the aspiring singer-songwriter in the family.

Ginny also led the crowd in a Praise sing-a-long. With songs like "Lift Your Name Up High", and "Awesome God". Then onto a great Christmas melody including "Come Let Us Adore Him", "Silent Night", and "Away In A Manger".

Overall the message of God's Grace was talked about, sung about, and illustrated. Leaving all those who attended something "real" to think about during this awesome season. This event also helped Crossroads reach out to non-members of the church. I was told that people as far away as Michigan had called inquiring about the concert.
