Although David Klinkenberg started playing violin at the age of four on a “violin” made of a Cracker Jack box and a stick, his musicality has far surpassed what that instrument could allow him to do. With his love for God and his improvisational skills, he has become quite successful as a young person in today’s Christian music. David’s own convictions of what Christian living should consist of shine through on this recording. Not wanting to live indifferently, but with a continually renewing spirit, his music shows this. Popular hymns, movie tracks, classical music, and contemporary Christian music are all used to compliment one another in a “musical blender.” Klinkenberg’s styles vary from light jazz to high energy arrangements of hymns and worship songs while his violin “sings” up and down a large range on the instrument. Favorites include: “I Love you, Lord” because it adds a totally new dimension to this familiar melody It is inspiring as it even tends to rock at some points in the song. Another favorite is ”Cinema Suite” because of the combination of some great cinema tunes all rolled into one work. Who knew that the Forrest Gump theme song and the Wizard of Oz’s “Somewhere over the Rainbow,” could go hand in hand and sound just right together? -Amanda M.
