Often when I write reviews and listen to Christian music I focus heavily on the lyrics and the meaning, forgetting that the music can be entertaining as well. Every now and then we just need to have fun. Heavy on the ska and light on the punk, Five Iron Frenzy is just the band to deliver that fun, as in the whimsicle "Pre-Ex-Girlfriend" and "You Can't Handle This." However God isn't missing from the mix and "Electric Boogaloo" has a fair share of rockin' tunes that are straight forward praises. Additionally, "The Day We Killed" is a strong political statement that makes you think about unpleasant things that we generally wish to avoid. Five Iron Frenzy has developed a strong following and if you're into "Relient K" or "The Supertones", then picking up on the Frenzy will not be difficult. Ken W. |
