Something More Rocketown Records' young star, Ginny Owens comes forth with a stellar Sophomore release. "Something More," is just that, the next edge up from Ginny's original release, "Without Condition." Ginny has crisp vocals that set her apart from the mainstream female vocalists. Electronic synthesizers were utilized throughout this album adding a unique sound. Perhaps turned up one notch in the wrong direction. Ginny's strength lay within her crisp vocals and au natural voice. The song titled, "This Road," is sweetly and unmistaken ably Ginny's classic style. A soul-tugging song, one can relate to the question in life, "Why this road God?" If one will trust in Him, they will know that answer in time. Another top pick is "All I Want to Do." In this moving piano ballad, Ginny shares her desires to turn this life over to our Creator. "Be Still, My Soul" is a charming poetic piano hymn that peacefully brings this album to a close. While artistic experimentation is a fine avenue for Christian artists to take, Ginny's natural talents are best left untouched. The closing songs are much closer to her debut album and simply put: exquisite. - Bridget L. |
