Steppin' Out If you're a fan of traditional gospel, then you're familiar with The Hoppers and if not, you're going to want to get to know them. The Hoppers, a family sextet, are far more involved than just making music. Brothers Mike and Dean have opened "The Farm", a complete recording studio. There is also the family publishing business. "Hopper Brothers & Connie Publishing" founded by Claude Hopper. All that aside, the family makes some fine music. "Steppin' Out" has many finely blended harmonies, a few individual featured songs, and a bundle of inspirational joy. As is certainly the case with "Joy In My Heart," a foot stomping, hand raising southern gospel hymn. Another note worthy song is "She Cries," a story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, from his birth to his crucifixion and resurrection. One of my favorites is the classic country sounding "Keep On Walkin'," which makes reference to Moses and the crossing of the Red Sea. If we keep on walking with faith God will deliver us out surely as He has led us in. Second, and somewhat related, is the patriotic "I Love America (with God Bless America)," a timely remake reflecting the new found spirit that has spread through America since September 11th, 2001. Take some time to check them out at www.thehoppers.com. - Ken W. |
