The Art of Translation Da Grits are Da Bomb! To a middle-aged child of the 80's "The Art of Translation" is old school hip-hop. Smooth rhymes coming at you at aerobic rates. Catchy phrases (well more like sounds) like the "ah!" of "Here We Go" and the "ooh ah" of "Ooh Ahh" will stick to your brain like honey to your fingers, but not in that annoying way that "ooh-a ooh-a" did as wanna be dj's overused it at weddings and high school dances. There is also a ton of fun on "The Art of Translation" including "Tennessee Bwoys" a sports-jam rap that could be adopted by the Tennessee Titans as their fight song. Also "Video Girl" pokes a little fun at the usual production of rap videos in the secular market. The experience and maturity of the Grits is evident by the intricate cadence on each track and the funky mixes that accompany them. "The Art of Translation" is sure to bring some strength to the plight of Christian hip-hop. - Ken W. |
