The Magic of Christmas If you're tired of the same old traditional Christmas albums and you're looking for something a bit more jovial, then look no further. Joy Electric is on the scene with synthesizers in hand. "The Magic of Christmas" is a retro-electronica ride down Christmas Lane. Creator, and sole performer, Ronnie Martin plays traditional Christmas songs like "Have Your Self A Merry Christmas," "Frosty The Snowman," and "Deck the Halls" with nothing but synthesizers and vocals. There is also an original song written by Martin called "Lollipop Parade (On Christmas Morn)". My personal favorites are "Frosty the Snowman" and "What Child Is This?" where Martin does a spectacular job of vocalizing. The 80's synth sound of "The Magic of Christmas" is unique, but at times the pulsating beats are overwhelming. This is not an album that you're going to wear out every year but it is a CD that can turn heads. I can imagine Christmas shopping this season, and hearing the electronic sounds of "The Magic of Christmas" coming from the Gap. - Ken W. |
