The Second Decade 1993 - 2003 Twenty years in the music business is no small-feat. Through the years Michael W. Smith has remained relevant in an ever changing music scene. He's taken on new challenges as well, with partnering in one of today's small-home-town mini labels Rocketown Records and a club with the same name. At the same time he's a husband, father, and mentor with great credibility. His second set of hits aptly titled "The Second Decade" encapsulates Michael's second ten years, and at the same time points the listener in a new direction with two new songs called "Signs" and "Raging Sea." "Signs" was inspired, and co-written, by Michael's son Ryan. In between these new songs you will find a host of songs that helped keep MWS on the charts and in the hearts of fans. Liner notes add to the value of the package as they briefly tell the back story of each song. Also, if you're lucky you can pick up the special edition with an accompanying DVD. Even if you're a rabid fan and you already own the entire MWS collection this second compilation of past hits (plus two new songs) is worthy of purchasing. Less rabid fans will enjoy having the key tracks from the past ten years and the liner notes which help make each song more personal. - Ken W. |
