Believe The name "Big Dismal" is taken from a geological landmark that is characterized by a massive sink hole which also represents the sinking depressive feeling of the spirit. But singer-songwriter Eric Durrance wants to bring inspiration into a dismal world through positive music. "Believe" is a power-rock record about love, heartache, and tough times. Although the band isn't a copy-cat of it's label mates Creed or 12 Stones, there is a familiar sound that resonates through the Wind-Up label roster. Big Dismal will take on the duality of faith-based rock in the secular scene that is facing a dismal response from many critics. Coming out in the wake of the Evanescence fall-out, the Big Dismal has a rough course ahead. "Believe" is familiar yet powerful, positive but not transparent, all of which make it an acceptable alternative to the mainstream rock that can be lyrically harsh and dismal. - Ken W. |
