Slow Day Coming is a fairly new band having come together in February of 2001, and has since gone through a few line-up changes. Although they fit in the rock genre they are very much indie-rock. The problem however, is that sometimes indie-rock can be so individual and unfamiliar that it's not very comfortable. At times it seems as if the tracks on this debut just blend together like one long monotonous song.

Apparently the band prides themselves on being authentic and original, which is of course a very good trait for an indie-rock band. Unfortunately for someone more constrained like myself, "Farewell to the Familiar" just doesn't become "comfortable."
