Who Are We?

SmashUps

Smash Ups
Sparrow Records

The concept with "Smash Ups" is to take two or three hit songs and smash them together, matching rhythm, melody, instrumentation, and vocals. Like taking the Grits and smashing them in with Audio Adrenaline and Steven Curtis Chapman. Mixes of this type are quite popular on the web and with digital dj's. Of course most of these internet mixes are bootlegs and not legal. "Smash Ups" marks the first "legal" production of this type.

Some of the mixes outshine the original tunes, and all are interesting to listen to - the first time - but not repetitively, and not all at the same time. This is most likely due to the fact that the styles are so eclectic.

Some of the best smashes are Rebecca St. James "God" mixed with Earthsuit's "One Time," Benjamin Gate's "All Over Me" mixed with John Reuben's "Do Not," and DC Talk's "Colored People" mixed with Newsboys "Entertaining Angels."
