Stories & Songs Mark Schultz' third offering brings us more of his in depth storytelling. Mark is a skilled communicator whose songs are personal and universal. On "Stories & Songs", Mark writes a lot about reserving time for family and not getting caught up in the pursuits of the world. Some of the inspiration for these themes comes from two books that Mark has been studying. Those are Wild At Heart (John Eldredge) and The Silence of Adam (Don Hudson). The song "Do You Even Know Me Anymore" was written as a direct response to these themes. This song will remind you of a classic song called "Cats in the Cradle." There is a little fun on the album too with the song "Running Just to Catch Myself." This particular track has a Weird Al - Relient K sound and you can feel the nervous adrenaline similar to what you would experience when life turns up a notch to high speed hectic. The best thing about Mark Schultz is how he puts amazing illustrations to song. "Stories & Songs" is a gift to men (but not limited to) looking for encouragement and an empathetic voice. - Ken W. |
