A Beautiful Glow "A Beautiful Glow" is a kick back to the classic rock of the 70's. The range of influences on this CD include The Beatles, The Monkey's and Pink Floyd. There is however, more to the Circus than revolutionary worship music. There is a powerful feeling of worship that flows through these retro sounds. The title track describes this feeling as the beautiful glow of Christ as it shines through us onto others. "A Beautiful Glow" really gets you pumped with vibrant sounds and cool lyrics. The spoken-word type of song "Gift Of Cool" further characterizes the band as the lyrics depict all kinds of people coming together to praise God. "Morning Glory" reminds me of the Monkeys and I can visualize a cool Brady Bunch style video with lots of color and happiness flowing at high speed as the tape is set to fast forward. "New Wave Revolution" is classic Worship Circus and one of the closest tracks to their independent days with "Big Star Logistics." The coolest song though is "Loveliest Bride." Gabriel sings "Loveliest Bride" in monotone, as the syncopated rhythms of the drums, guitars, and keyboards drives you into a state of meditation. "Loveliest Bride" is by far the wildest track on "Beautiful Glow." Overall, the CD gets more exciting every time I give it a spin. This is also their first CD with all new material since "Big Star Logistics," as "Welcome to the Rock and Roll Worship Circus" was mostly a mix from their independent days. - Ken W. |
