Absolute

Absolute Worship CD & DVD
Fervent Records

This latest compilation features music that has been previously released. However, the majority of songs have a copyright of 2001 or later. This then is a good set to introduce oneself to a variety of artists and newer songs that you may not have heard before.

Among the artists on the two CDs are Big Daddy Weave and "Audience of One," Tree63 and "Treasure," Telecast and "The Way," BarlowGirl and "On My Own," and Rock "N Roll Worship Circus and "Glorify The Son." Other artists include Shaun Groves, Ginny Owens and Watermark. I personally liked Jill Phillips' up-tempo song "Hanging On" with its different twist on the title; "I believe that I need to let go of these things to be free so help me stop this hanging on."

One thing I don't understand is the disk's listing of five "Bonus Tracks" since not all of those songs are new releases.

The free DVD that comes with the CD is nothing special. It contains what are essentially five EPKs (Electronic Press Releases) for five artists (BarlowGirl, Big Daddy Weave, Shaun Groves and Jill Phillips). However, while Joel Hanson and Sara Groves are pictured for the song "Traveling Light," they are nowhere to be seen. Strange indeed. Concert clips from By The Tree and Darrell Evans are also included. So is Ginny Owens and her music video "With Me." Oddly enough, that song is not on the CD. As much as I admire Ginny and her music, this (along with Audio Adrenaline's new video for "Leaving 99") is one of the worst music videos ever.

Also, whoever put the DVD together made it unnecessarily difficult to navigate. Nowhere is there a function that allows you to play the DVD all the way through, you have to go chapter-by-chapter. At least it's free.
