David Crowder Band "Illuminate" is the DCB's sophomore release on Sixsteps and overall I found it more enjoyable than their debut. There is an upbeat-college-conference kind of soundtrack that motivates my inner desires to shout praises to God. The majority of "Illuminate" is new material written by David Crowder. The songs are not your typical corporate worship, but instead they are more performance orientated. "Illuminate" probably lends itself to more of a live setting for the band rather than for duplication by congregations or simple praise bands. "Illuminate" also includes one particular remake titled "Heaven Came Down" which is an old Sunday school song that Crowder has spiced up with a new arrangement. The DCB mixes up a pleasing batch of alternative rock and worship. The overall feel of "Illuminate" is progressive and funky. - Ken W. |
