Matt McGee is a young worship leader with a strong family background in ministry. "Worship Through the Valley" began as an idea to record a few songs for students involved in his ministry to use in their quiet time. As the project began unfolding, it picked up momentum and eventually gained the attention of Crowne. Through a partnership between Crowne and Visionering, Inc., Matt's debut will be distributed to a much wider audience.

The music of "Worship Through the Valley" is customarily corporate worship. Songs were selected as a reflection of Matt's life and the underlying theme of God's presence in tough times. A personal example of this from Matt's perspective is "More of You, Lord" which ends with a spoken sample of Matt's late uncle Pastor Dr. Rick Ferguson. Pastor Ferguson died in a car accident while Matt was working on this recording. These short words, "Not I, but Christ," spoken by Pastor Ferguson describe the intent of Matt's album and ministry.

The album is very laid back and gentle while the lyrics are simple enough for corporate worship. One of my favorites is "Eternity" because of the emotional impact Matt puts into the vocals. The album ends with "Old Rugged Cross," putting a nice finishing touch on an overall modest recording.
