Sarah Kelly This is an impressive debut. Many of the songs revolve around the same theme, we need God in our lives and God is always there. "Take Me Away" is a great song with its song-along-out-loud chorus. You can crank that one up. I'd love to hear "Take Me Away" in concert. "Forever" is a wonderfully modern worship and praise song. While not necessarily profound, songs such as "Faithful Father" and "Living Hallelujah" leave no doubt as to where Sarah's heart lies. Sarah's powerful vocals may remind the listener of Janis Joplin, Melissa Etheridge or Ann Wilson of Heart. If there is a drawback to the album it's that six of the ten tracks have a similar musical structure. There's an acoustic open, followed by "bombs-away" rock, and then another acoustic bit. By the time the last track, "All I See" with its all acoustic approach, rolls around it almost feels like a relief. - Rob S. |
