Grits When the Grits rap-duo hit the studio to record their follow up to "Art of Translation" the creative juices started to overflow. So much so, that the record company execs decided to go for a double release this year, with Dichotomy A (June 29th) and Dichotomy B (November 2nd). On "The Art of Translation", the Grits had more of a commercial sound that felt refined for radio. "Dichotomy A" doesn't have that same sound, although the Grits feel that it has mass appeal. I'm not about to argue with that considering how well their songs have been received on BET, MTV, and the film industry. I can follow the message of the spoken word on "track 2" - speaking of Godly men who know how to treat a virtuous woman. There's more of this common poetic spoken word through out the CD. Like I noted earlier, "Dichotomy A" is more suited for a club environment and not the general market. The Grits still maintain their high quality of rhyme and smooth dialect, but the soundtrack is more aggressive than previously. - Ken W. |
