Denison Marrs Self-Titled Floodgate Records
Denison Marrs' new self-titled release is a very simple yet impressive CD. Having been around since 1995 the band was able to write, produce, and record the album personally. Lyrical topics include general themes of life, love, hope, and faith, but the gravity of the subject matter is well thought out. There are some similarities in the music to earlier U2 that I picked up on; however this was not evident in the vocals.
Most appealing is the sound, which is very melodious and not of the usual mainstream standard, sticking to a more indi form. Not being familiar with their previous work, I scoured the web and found nothing but praises for their previous releases. I'll be sure to be looking for more from Dennison Marrs, and if you're not familiar with them you can start by checking out the bands official web site. http://www.denisonmarrs.net/
