Out of Eden The Out of Eden sisters are striving to develop yet another layer of talents in their repertory with their latest release titled “Hymns”. They of course have added their own personal rhythm and blues twist to such classics like “Fairest Lord Jesus,” and “Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise.” Then to jazz it up a bit, there is a sweet duo with John Ellis (Tree 63) on “Praises to the Lord the Almighty”. The entire album doesn't agree completely with the title as there is a smattering of praise and worship on “Better is One Day”, and some funky grooves on “Vision of Love.” There is also a Joe Satriani style guitar solo called “Vibe Session” that seems just plain out of place, but I love it. In the new wave of hymn CD’s, the Out of Eden sisters have done well to represent some timeless hymns. My only reservation is that they didn't follow through on the entire album with more traditional hymns. They could have left out the more contemporary material, which would have made a great foundation for yet another album. - Ken W. |
