Deepspace5
Unique Just Like Everyone Else
Gotee Records

The Deepspace5 collective initially came together back in 1997, their first major label release was in 2003 with The Night We Called it a Day on Uprock Records. The collective has now come to Gotee Records for a follow up album Unique Just Like Everyone Else. The Deepspace5 group includes a half dozen solo MC’s and members of three major hip hop groups. Some of the more recognizable names include Sev, Mars Ill, Playdough, Manchild, and Sintax.

This second release is again a compilation of urban hip hop and positive messages. With songs like “Axe to Grind”, “Start Right Here”, and “Talk Music” it’s easy to hear the emphasis on the fine art of rap-poetry. The spiritual message isn’t absent either, “Axe to Grind” and “Crumbs” were both stand out tracks for me in this regard.

As a collective or on an individual level the members of Deepspace5 are a determined underground movement of Christian urban and hip hop artists that want to be “real” and bless others with the light of truth.
