Proof Positive is the first album of the year for the young upstart label Selectric Records. Cross Culture, like its name, crosses many boundaries with its dynamic fusion of rock, rap, and even a little funk. Formerly an eight-piece band, included influences of SKA, the band has presently sifted down to three members who hold true to their calling of being a bit different, at a time when creativity is not at a peek.

Cross Culture’s debut is mostly bouncy-guitar-driven music, wrapped with a deep message of hope and “positivism.” The closing track, titled “Wave,” sums it all up, using a metaphor about surfing. The decisive message is that after the big wave crashes, get back up, overcome, and persevere just as Paul wrote to the Romans. It’s hard to ask for anything more.
