Jonah33 Jonah33’s sophomore release is progressive lyrically and potently Christ-centered. The backing soundtrack builds upon their alt-rock flavorings with a heavy guitar base and an occasional hot lead. The meat of the project is the bands passion for furthering the gospel message through music. The music has the potential to reach outside of the church, however I would think that the main focus are those either inside the body or those actively seeking to become a part of the body. The lead single is “Tell Me” which sounds much like the material on their debut. My favorites are “Need to Let Go” and “Desensitized” because they both speak to my weaknesses and the redeeming power of Christ. Die hard rock fans may find the power chord rhythms and basic, yet pointed lyrics to be less stimulating. However, as far as rock-gospel bands go, Jonah33 is a respectable choice. Ken W |
