This Minnesota trio unites a progressive rock soundtrack with agreeable harmonies, along with several hooks that work well for radio. Although there are several bands out there with a similar sound, there is something particular about Mainstay that sets them apart. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but it could be part production (Aaron Sprinkle) and part good song writing. The bands roots are in punk, which may make them a more dynamic live band compared to their common pop-radio sound. Overall, I think they do a good job of styling their music around the lyrics in a way that will keep you hooked.
