Need To Breath

NEEDTOBREATHE
“Daylight”
Sparrow Records
11 tracks @ 39:13

Fans of Sanctus Real may want to check out this straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll outfit.

“Don’t Wait for Daylight” is an 80’s power ballad. “Shine On” is more acoustic. The piano driven “Don’t Leave Just Yet” tells us that “you don’t let me get away too
far . . .you always remind me of the love we had.”

The band’s PR material limited its focus to the background of the band without revealing any insight into the band’s purpose and message. You might be able to learn more by logging onto www.needtobreathe.net.

Addendum: I had already written this review when my April issue of CCM Magazine arrived in the mail. These guys scored the cover of the “!” (i.e., who’s hot) issue. Since my review is rather tepid, I wondered if I was missing something. (As an aside, I also wonder what Jesus would think of the concept of “who’s ‘hot’ in CCM?”) So I listened to the disk again, along with my wife.

While I found the track “Over Now” to be interesting musically, I didn’t hear what all the hype is about. In other words, if I did not have this CD, I would not miss it. I like rock ‘n’ roll but there’s nothing exceptional to neither this band’s sound nor lyrics. Here’s a bold prediction: NEEDTOBREATHE won’t last more than two major-label releases.
