Coming off a successful tour with Rebecca St. James and BarlowGirl, this solo artist brings out his second record. Fans of Bebo Norman and Shaun Groves should like this record.

Lavik is as good an example as any on how life can take unexpected turns. He never set out to be a Christian artist as music was “just a hobby.” “It’s a path I never would have expected,” Lavik says, “but then again, that’s how God works and His plan is perfect.” He says his new record is his take on Christian struggles and the Christian walk.

The current single, the bouncy “Changing Happy,” is about changing what it means to be happy by “getting close to you.” “Father” is contemplative and focuses on prayer. The recently engaged Lavik says he’s telling “God how thankful I am for not only faithfulness, but the fact that I’ve fallen head over heels in love with my fiancé.” “Hear Our Song” is a praise song, suitable for contemporary worship.

This is a pleasant, and pleasing, listen.
