“Changed!”
Studio 25 Recordings

I’ve never heard of this artist until now but his record may made me say “wow!” This is, however, his fifth record. You may recognize some of his previous work; “Everlasting Love,” “Head Over Heals,” “When a Man Cries.” He’s also toured with Boyz II Men, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder.

This work marks a change with a new image and sound as Tony wants to help remind the world of what joy really is. Tony says, “My desire is to share experience and help others who are feeling alone or have a broken spirit know that God has open arms waiting for them to fall into Him.”

The first single, “Praise Him,” combines the horn-sound of Blood Sweat and Tears with the dance beats of Will Smith’s “Switch” for a unique combo that strikes me as one of the better, and uplifting, songs of this year.

“I Wanna Thank You Lord” notes the aforementioned change with the lyric “living for the world.” “Look to the Hills” is soulful while “Nobody Like Jesus” is old-school gospel with its sing-along chorus. “He’s a Friend of Mine” has a falsetto vocal that recalls Philip Bailey and his 1984 duet with Phil Collins on “Easy Lover.”

Recommended.
