Decyfer Down Having reviewed several new rock and hard rock bands this month, I hope that writing this one last does not put them at a disadvantage. Much like the others, Decyfer Down does an excellent job of presenting their positive message through hard-driving guitars and melodic vocals. What sticks out for me the most on this particular CD, are the messages of the songs. There are similar messages of struggles, true faith or a faith of your own, and on the encouraging side, songs and praises for Jesus Christ and the unconditional love of God. These themes run through songs like “I’ll Breath For You,” which makes a very strong statement about being committed to living and breathing every moment for Christ. There is a similar theme in “Walking Dead.” These songs pose a challenge to live out the definition of a “Christian,” that is to live a more Christ-like life. That is a challenge for anyone no matter how strong of a faith you have. The band doesn’t pose as the perfect model Christians either. Songs like “Fight Like This” and “Vanity” show that we are not invincible and cannot achieve this standard of living apart from a relationship with Christ. Overall “End of Grey” is an excellent rock album with a brave amount of spirited lyrics. - Ken W. |
