Threshing Floor “Happy Goodbyes” is the second release from the Padilla family under the moniker of Threshing Floor. Their first release, “At Your Feet,” was a worship project while “Happy Goodbyes” is more gospel rock and pop. This project is theirs in whole, as Sandi and Steve have written or co-written the entire album and they take most of the credits for the instruments, aside from the drums. Speaking of drummers, there is a prayer request on Threshing Floor’s website about their drummer. Apparently she twisted and sprained an ankle and will be out for a while. The heart of the eleven-track “Happy Goodbyes” lies heavily on Sandi’s harmonious vocals, while Steve provide BGV’s. The soundtrack varies from acoustic guitar to some more upbeat electric leads. The songs are decidedly original and as an independent couple they have really put a lot into the production of each song. There is a remarkable difference between this CD and “At Your Feet” when it comes to production. That could be because this album is on the rockier end of the continuum and not the worship end. Either way, “Happy Goodbyes” is a solid effort that deserves further attention. The only mystery for me is the cover art? - Ken W. |
