Fireflight The Healing of Harms Flicker Records
Over the past month I have really gotten into Fireflights new album The Healing of Harms. Almost so much that nothing else was going to get reviewed for the month. I found it very difficult to remove it from the CD player. Making it very difficult to preview the many other CD’s that were waiting.
What was it that most captured my attention you may ask, well part of it are things that I’m missing, like Benjamin Gate, and another part is things I like, female vocalist like Amy Lee, Jessie Daniels, and now Dawn Richardson. However, with a variety of influences and associations, Fireflight comes across with a very original sound that has deepened my liking for their music. They are a self-defined progressive-modern-emo-metal band and this extraordinary arrangement can be heard through out the 11-track debut. My favorite is “Liar” which includes aggressive background vocals aside commanding guitar riffs.
All the head banging and melodies aside, the band does a complimentary job of lyric writing. For such a band to tackle an issue like TV evangelism (Liar) is out of the ordinary in some ways, but it works well. Other themes include self-worth, love, pain, hopelessness, and most importantly faith in God to get you through life and all of its ups and downs.
If rock ‘n’ roll and loud guitars are not to your liking, well I’m sorry; you don’t know what you’re missing. To find out what you’re missing take the time to check out Fireflight and their new CD The Healing of Harms.
