Jimmy Needham’s educational background in history and philosophy certainly make for an interesting combination, and can probably account for the lyrical depth of his Inpop debut Speak. Up front, Needham imparts the gospel message, however, what really catches your attention is the blues and rock soundtrack that backs up his lyrical gifts. 

This combination is a breath of fresh air in the midst of the many other debut artists around him.  His bio states that blues music has always stirred him up and that is exactly what this CD will do for you.  Best of all, when it comes to spreading the gospel, the message comes through very clearly.  “Fence Riders” is a challenging song about living a holy life as we are called to do.  I’ll steal a quote from Needham from the PR materials – “Here this: there is no room for mediocrity in the Christian life.”  Secondly, I found the title song to be as inspirational and important.  “Speak” the title track is a call to share the gospel without reservation.  Overall this is an awesome album, and a great boost for the Inpop label.
