“Bring Glory”

Springhill Worship

12 tracks @ 40:18

Fans of Chris Tomlin and Lincoln Brewster should like this record of worship music.  Riggan says, “The way I see it, worship is better defined as a life lived in submission to our great and holy God.  A life lived on the alter.”

This is a guitar/keyboard driven record, with the occasional violin or cello.  While Riggans’ cover of “Great is the Lord” is in a key that I can handle, I just prefer Michael W. Smith’s original.  I did like “Lift” while “Bring Glory” is a nice up tempo number for starting corporate worship. Many should be familiar with Riggins’ “I Love You Lord.”

My wife thought “Matches” was a bit weird with its references to getting matches and a can of gasoline to start oneself on fire.  It’s about making a drastic life’s change, “turning into something new, burn away anything that isn’t you.”  The drum beat lends an added sense of urgency.
