Don’t Wait

BEC

As the front woman of the famed Benjamin Gate, Adrienne Camp (Liesching) led the progressive South African act to the forefront (label pun) of Christian rock.  Truly they were one of a kind, and surely their departure was mixed with disappointment and a longing for more.

However, time changes most things and time (a marriage, and two children) has changed Adrienne as well. Fortunately the desire to make music never escaped her thoughts and this wanting has led to her first solo effort, “Don’t Wait.”  The other side of the progressively wild-haired rocker is a sweet soft-spoken angelic voice.

The theme of the album seems to balance around time with the inclusion of “Turn,” “Time,” and the title track “Don’t Wait.”  However, it is not just about time slipping away, or the seasons of our lives, as is as much about living each day in Christ.  The album is a written reflection of Adrienne’s walk with God and her renewed desire to make every day count.  In her press release, she writes about being faithful to take time each day for devotions and spending time with Jesus, and resisting complacency.

Musically, Adie (the new moniker) is pop/rock, very reflective, and worshipful.  Consequently, the sound and vibe of the album brings many comparisons between the Camp team (Jeremy and Adie) and the former Watermark musical duo Nathan and Christy Nockles.

The new Adie is so charming, and I am positive the new music will be well received.  My favorite song on the whole album is “What Have I Done,” and I think it speaks volumes about where she has been and where she is growing in her new roles as wife, mother, and now again, as a leading performer, but more importantly, where she is growing as a follower of Christ.
