Nevertheless “Live Like We’re Alive” Flicker Records 10 tracks @ 35:19
And yet still another rock band in this “Year of the Rock Band.”
Fans of Sanctus Real and Stellar Kart should like this quintet from Chattanooga, TN. The group’s PR material compares them to Jimmy Eat World, Mae, Further Seems Forever, Cartel, and Copeland (if any of that helps you, great ‘cause I don’t know anything about those bands).
I did like the tracks “Time,” “Live Like We’re Alive” and “Losing Innocence.” Musically, one thing Nevertheless has going for it to separate it some from other groups is that it makes nice use of backing vocals.
The band’s message is one of hope. Lead vocalist Josh Pearson says, “Without direction, passion, and a belief in our purpose, we would not be doing this.”
“Losing Innocence” has some relatable truth; “We try to come as close as we can to what we can’t and not get caught, but instead, let’s turn and run towards the light!”
For a Christian band the lyrics are fairly generic. For example, in the band’s “Behind the Songs” PR material, the song “O’ Child” is described thusly, “God always call us back home when we stray too far away,” yet the word “God” doesn’t show up in the lyrics.
