Jared Anderson “Where to Begin” Integrity Media 10 tracks @ 36:31
I usually play a CD as I set up the sound system for choir practice on Wednesday nights. When I played the solo release from Desperation Band’s Jared Anderson, everyone wanted to know who it was because they really liked the music. So do I.
Anderson says the themes in his music are the same as worship music, “the search, the desire for God. They’re just not congregational in nature.” Stylistically, the record is described as “organic, earthy rock.”
“Hear Us From heaven” is a plea to “Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls,” that is, according to Anderson, for “God to reveal yourself to people who would never seek you.”
“Blind Man” highlights the paradox “That the dead man waking up will get me free.” “Lost in Heaven” has a very pretty piano open. Jared’s vocals during the beginning of the song are merely perfunctory, a rote performance. Given the lyric “Sunday morning. . .I’m so mindless,” it’s a perfect interpretation.
“I’m Coming Your Way” has short, simple lyrics, yet a majestic setting. I think it’d make a great congregational song.
Recommended.
