40 Days Prodigal

            Michael Cruz, the front man of M-Cruz (pronounced ehm-krooz) is an independent artist hailing from New York.  Michael has a history dating back to at least 1998 and has formerly worked on industrial type rock.  His latest effort, “40 Days Prodigal,” is typed as a modern rock album. 

            The title track is reminiscent of power ballads from the 80’s while “Yes I Believe,” and “Beautiful Savior” have more of a gospel rock sound similar to Petra in the 80’s and 90’s.  The programming on the title track, “40 Days Prodigal,” is too much and not really necessary. The sound of “Prophet Said” is much more natural and better played out and would have worked for the title track as well.  “Prophet Said” is definitely my favorite track on the album. 

            As an independent project the album is well produced and the effort of Michael Cruz is very apparent as he and his wife work hard to further the ministry of M-Cruz.  There is an official website where you can find more biographical information and more information on the album “40 Days Prodigal.”
