Newsboys Go Inpop
With a new label and a new outlook on life, Christian rock staple Newsboys are back with a renewed vivacity. Having been impacted by life changes and particularly one festival in Israel, the band mates have worked through personal difficulties to keep the band together and to further run its mission of ministry, wherever it may take it them.
The new album, the 14th release for the band and the first rock album in approximately five years, sounds very much like the majority of their catalog. The writing however is unique and written mostly by Peter with a little help from Steve Taylor and Paul Colman.
The strength of the album lies in their newfound enthusiasm and determination. It is a good sign of things to come for the Newsboys as they embark upon a new chapter in their ministry. Fans will certainly find joy in the new songs and even the newly spun songs like “I Am Free.” The title track has been tied more to the revelations of the band and their desire to Go where the Lord will take them, however, I think “I Am Free” better describes their individual testimonies that I have been reading lately. It is a good feeling to find freedom in Christ. It can also be the fuel to “Go” beyond your usual boundries.
