SPUR58

“sleepwalkers”

Indelible Creative Group

12 tracks @ 54:07

This Texas-grown band urges its listeners to disrupt their pattern of life and start living with eyes wide-open.  Based on the title, SPUR58 sees an outbreak of sleepwalking all over this country.

Lead singer Aaron Ivey says, “We’re going through the motions and we forget all the life around us.  If you’re going to claim Jesus, you’ve got to wake up.”

According to the band’s PR material, the heart of SPUR58 is in leading worship.  “I Am Yours” and “The Wonderful” are corporate worship songs.

But, Ivey says, “sometimes we miss the truth that God is great even in suffering.”  This theme is explored in “Kyle’s Lament,” about a friend’s father who died of cancer.

Musically, fans of tree63 and Sanctus real will like this disk.  “Sustaining Me” has a hint of Supertramp.
