Third Day Christmas Offerings Essential Records
When I first read the press release that came with the CD I had a real chuckle.
“I was kicking around the title of ‘On The Third Day of Christmas,’ but I was outvoted,” says bassists Tai Anderson.
Of course the band did not have to think hard about what to title the CD, as they favor the Offering titles, explaining that this album, like the earlier worship offerings, has a worshipful tune.
“Christmas Offerings” is 13 songs long including four new songs written by the band. Each one of the new songs has a personal meaning for the particular band member who wrote it. For instance, Guitarist Brad Avery was inspired by his family’s journey of adoption. As this Christmas season passes Avery and his wife are still awaiting the finalization of their adoption of a child from China.
As with previous offerings albums there is a live section to the CD. This time however, the live songs were recorded in a much smaller venue with a group of about 150 in the audience. Additionally, the audience was used as a live choir to help enhance the sound.
“Christmas Offerings” really has it all. Powell’s signature voice, classic Christmas favorites, enlightening new originals, and that worship undertone that all the offerings CD’s have had. Another Christmas favorite for years to come.
