Echoing Angels Grade: C- “You Alone” INO Records 10 tracks @35:55
I was recently reading an interesting article in the Billy Graham Ministry magazine Decisions. The topic was on how we need to be an Andrew. In the Gospel of John, the disciple Andrew, after hearing John the Baptist, goes and TELLS his brother Simon (Peter), “We have found the Messiah.” (John 1:41 RSV) Would Peter have become the rock if his brother hadn’t said anything to him?
Echoing Angels frontman Chris Peevy says, “We view our ministry as if we are Sunday school teachers. This band is focused on reaching out.”
Musically, the band sites Train, Lifehouse, Matchbox 20 MercyMe and Third Day as influences.
Lyrically, many of the songs are of the in-vogue “it could be about a girl but it’s probably about God.” For example, “Free” says “I finally found the answer to what I was looking for. . .You’re the only one that could save me.” A Christian would probably get it, but a non-believer?
Likewise with “Make It Better;” “I know you can make it better” and also the song “Move Me;” “I need you, I want you.”
One of the few bold statements of faith is the fairly simple “Hallelujah.” ”Infinite light. . .you are my savior.” The current signle “You Alone” is doing well on the A/C radio charts. The band has potential.
