Singing Back to You

Rocketown Records

I have had this CD in my possession for some time now, but I have struggled to put down in words a worthy review.  Personally, I was attached to the Swifts former piano-driven sound.  With their newest release, and their first on Rocketown, that familiar style is a bygone.   The bands new approach is a rock driven soundtrack that still includes some piano melodies but there is more focus on the other elements of the full-band sound.  However, the new sound is not all that bad either.  “Singing Back To You” is what they consider their personal worship album.

The new arrangement work best on tracks like “Rain Down,” the worship-ballad “Nothing But the Blood,” and “Always Been With You.”  Overall the new sound of The Swift is still enjoyable, but on the downside, it does little to set them apart from other like their original piano-driven sound did.  Of course this genre of music will more likely put them in a better place for radio play.  Either way, there is nothing to indicate that the change had anything to do with sales and charting so if it is from the heart then their ministry will continue to be blessed.
