Pivitplex The King in a Rookery Hawley Record Co.
“The King in a Rookery” is the follow up to the national label debut “Under Museum Quality Glass” (BEC). I find myself again drawn to their melodies and their simplistic style of Americana Rock. I also took note of the Saw that turns up on “End of the Line” in particular. The best thing is that the themes still run deep and the ministry of the band stands true.
Overall, “The King in a Rookery” is a stimulating listen, and solid enough sonically to keep you interested for the entire 53 minuets. It’s good to hear them again after all that they have been through. “The King in a Rookery” also comes with a companion devotional that goes along with the CD. It is a song-by-song devotional that helps make the significance of the song more personal.
Aside from the CD, the band has put together a podcast and they have an obligatory MySpace account with a blog or two that will give you some insight into the personal challenges the guys have been working though.
