Jason Gray All the Lovely Losers Centricity Grade - B
As an acclaimed indie artists, Jason Gray had already set a foundation of folk-laced projects and his first Centricity Records release, All the Lovely Losers, flows ever so closely to that vein. However, the label release turns it up a notch with a dose of pop rock. Comparisons have been made with Jeremy Camp, however, aside from the airy pop, his vocals do not reach the raw grit that defines camp. Gray, instead, defines himself with a lighter more graceful tone.
I have not dug into the lyrics, but the themes across the board are appeasing and edifying. In our weakness we find strength in Christ.
All the Lovely Losers includes collaborations with PFR’s Joel Hanson, Sara Groves, Andrew Peterson, and Waterdeep’s Lori Chafer, all of which highlight the essence of the best of pops songwriting and performance, a definite plus for the album overall.
