Lost Ocean is an idie flavored atmospheric-ambient-emo-rock band recently signed to Credential Records.  Their bio states that they are piano-driven, and in some ways this reminds me of Cool Hand Luke, except that Lost Ocean leans more towards the rock than the emo.

The band originates from Bakersfield, California and their clever name is taken from two of their original songs, “Lost” and “Oceans.”  I say clever to be facetious because the band name had to be changed due to copy write dispute and the band just went with the combo from the aforementioned songs. Nothing really deep, unless you take into consideration the complex construction of their music.  Their debut is strong in writing, the band had originally written 30 songs that had to be whittled down to the 10 that ended up on the CD.

I am a big fan of the closely independent artist on the fringes, away from radio formats and PR hype.  For this reason, and those mentioned above, I consider “Lost Ocean” to be a powerful new release.
