Gregory Paul Smith
“I Can Live Again”
KTC Music
10 tracks @ 46:48
Grade = A-

            Tim Griffin, Lead Chaplain for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, says “Over the many years that I have known Gregory, his walk with God has weathered the ups and downs of life and ministry.  What has grown from his journey is a depth of faith that is reflected in his passion for Christ and his uplifting music.”

            Gregory Paul Smith lists Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, David Crowder Band and the Eagles as among his musical influences.  I think fans of adult contemporary artists such as Bebo Norman and Amy Grant will like this record.

            With its use of a shaker, female background vocals and Clapton-like guitar, “Broken” is an extremely well-produced song   The title track revolves around a redemption theme.  “In the Here and Now” features the lyric “Every day I’ve got to live and breathe the holiness in Christ.”

            Smith treats the classic hymn “Solid Rock” as a rocker but it’s still recognizable.  That song made this disk because it addresses the idea of “relinquishing control and laying one’s problems on an altar of spiritual abundance.”  I’d classify five of the tracks on this debut as soft rock.

            Brad Mathias, Vice President of Infinity Music Distribution says “Gregory Paul Smith represents the core values of our mission, an anointed and talented independent artist whose voice deserves to be heard.”
