            Jason Upton has correctly been compared to songwriters Keith Green and Rich Mulliins, both because of his depth of writing and his spontaneous style of worship.  What I have admired about his various independent releases is how he has also recorded many of the songs live and spontaneously.  It shows great skill and devoted worship as the songs, many originals written by Upton, take you to a place of solitude and worship and while he has you there he can take you in any direction he feels led. 

            “Beautiful People” was similarly recorded live in Charlotte, N.C. and it includes thirteen original tracks written by Upton.  The soundtrack leans heavily on the piano, but there is a decent accompaniment on drums and some wind instruments.  Overall it has a peaceful sound that sets a meditative mood.

            If you’re not familiar with Jason Upton and The Key of David Ministries there are a lot of resources on his web site to help familiarize yourself.  The free downloads are more than ample and many of his songs can be previewed or purchased on iTunes.
