Pocket Full of Rocks “Manifesto” Myrrh Records 11 tracks @ 44:34 Grade = A
Pocket Full of Rocks received a Dove Nomination for “New Artist of the Year.” The band’s second release will help them win more fans.
Songwriter Michael Farren explains the title. “Manifesto is defined as ‘A public declaration of one’s intents, desires and motives.’” He says, “It struck me one morning while sitting on my porch, that there is a divine manifesto that has been declared over my life. It’s our desire that everything we do as a band reflects a documentation of God’s desires, a declaration of His motives and His agenda.”
“At the Cross” tells us about “mercy that triumphs over judgment” while the atmospheric/Dream Weaver-esque “Worst of Us” is about “raining love on all the worst of us.”
Sonically I’d favorably compare the band to Sanctus Real and CircleSlide. I wish this disk had some more up-tempo numbers but that is more a matter of personal taste.
The enhanced CD includes cord charts, Media Shout files and an instructional video.
