Mysterious You

Independent

Grade – B

It is interesting how we may never hear about a songwriter, even though we may go about our day humming one of their very own tunes.  I believe that it happens a lot, that we can at times not even look further than the artist on the cover to see who is really behind the song.

In this case it’s a number one hit by a very popular vocal group, written by an independent artist, who at the time was employed to write such songs for such artist.  The song was “All My Praise,” and it was recorded by Selah in 2005, but written by Audrey Hatcher Woodhams.

The song spent five weeks at number one, it landed on the WOW 2006 top 30 CD, and it was nominated for a Dove in the category of Best Inspirational Song of the Year.

From the same budding singer/songwriter, we have a collection of self-penned and recorded treasures.  “Mysterious You” is well produced, and although I am more familiar with Audrey in an acoustical setting, the CD has a full-band.  The songs are worship centered, but performed more in a contemporary format.  Audrey is a fine vocalist and her shining personality permeates all that she does.

Check out her official web site for more information and (exciting) news.  When I met Audrey last July at Lifest, she had recently found out that she was expecting.  Between that and her move to Virginia, much has changed for Audrey recently.  I’m thinking that these sudden emotional events are going to become topics for her writing and future recordings.
