Half Past Forever

Take a Chance on Something Beautiful

Brash Music

Grade – A

A big rock sound with an even bigger message. That is what I would say to describe the national debut from Half Past Forever.  As the biography states, as the primary songwriter and vocalist, Chris Sligh anchored the album.  Aside from writing or co-writing the entire project, Chris also acted as producer on the debut project.

Topping it all off, the album was recorded in Chris’ attic studio.  After the completion of the project, it was released independently in March of 2007 and then subsequently picked up by Brash Music and re-released nationally in July.

“Take a Chance on Something Beautiful” is an impressive 17 songs long and the consistency of songwriting is as impressive.  The themes running through the nearly hour-long project focuses on love, patience, love, relationships, love, and love.  I guess the song “Tunnel Vision” kind of sums it all up thematically.  However, in its defense, its not all sappy “I’m lonely and I miss my girlfriend” love songs, the lyrics are more deliberate than that.

The band of course has both an official web site and a MySpace account.  I would highly recommend Half Past Forever to anyone interested in rock and pop.
