Sonsofday Fragile People Red Hammer Records Grade – C+
There is an interesting back-story here. This four-piece band is all brothers (Roman, Vlad, Bodan, and Scottie) and more fascinating, the brothers are from Cherkasy, Ukraine. The family history includes a grandfather who was a member of the KGB security force and in the midst of a house search; the grandfather tucked away an illegal Bible that he found. The grandfather became fascinated with the Bible and from reading it he encountered a conversion of faith and a personal relationship with Christ. This amazing conversion was ultimately pass on through the family lines leading up to Roman, Vlad, Bodan, and Scottie.
The brothers eventually moved to America in 1992 where the family honed their musical talents into what is now known as Sonsofday. The brothers boldly proclaim their mission; “Our secret plan is to inspire our listeners to pursue their dreams, their America, and ultimately God.”
Musically, their sound is a form of alternative-rock, however the title track is more a laid-back acoustic ballad. The alt-rock is more evident on “This Place,” and the video for this song is already posted on YouTube. My favorite is “Why” because they present a clear gospel testimony and the beat is really cool too. They’re all over the web so take a few minuets and take a look.
